Important Information for Marae Hirers

Tangihanga (Funerals)
Accommodation
Private functions (Note Marae policy regarding drugs and alcohol)
Meetings and seminars
IMPORTANT - If there is a tangihanga (funeral), your booking will be cancelled and any deposit or remaining payment will be refunded. 
You may be asked to vacate the Marae at short notice. 

Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking
No Drugs or alcohol are permitted on marae property, failure to comply will result in loss of bond and you will be asked to leave the Marae immediately.
The Marae is an Auahikore (smoke free) zone, smoking is discouraged and only permitted outside the Marae boundaries.

Booking Process
Booking enquiries can be made via the booking form on the website www.cambridgemarae.org
Your booking will be confirmed once the Marae has accepted your booking and you have paid a deposit or bond.
Cancellation of bookings must be notified by email to bookings@cambridgemarae.org. Deposits paid are fully refundable if your booking is cancelled within two weeks of the booking date. 
If you book for multiple visits during the year the deposit will be held until the final visit.
We will issue an invoice for your stay once you confirm the booking and we expect to be paid two weeks before. No payment no booking. 
The bank account details are included on our invoice. 

Catering
The marae does not have caterers and instead provides a fully equipped kitchen and facilities to enable your group to self-cater if you wish.  We can provide a list of caterers on request.

Cleanliness
You are responsible for maintaining the cleaning standards of the marae
Cleaning checklists are provided in each room.
An extra fee will be charged if the cleaning is not done

Equipment
The kitchen is fully equipped with commercial size gas cooking facilities, small appliances, cutlery, crockery cooking utensils, dishwasher, thermo oven.
A walk-in chiller
Tables & Chairs (To seat approx. 100 people)
Washing Machine & Dryer for Marae Kitchen Linen only.
Mattresses, bed linen (for approx 75 people)

Gas/LPG
The marae gas appliances and kitchen hot water are fuelled by 2 x LPG cylinders They are fitted with an automatic regulator which will switch and draw gas from the reserve cylinder once the current cylinder is exhausted.   
Do not alter the regulator settings or close the cylinder taps.
The gas appliances themselves are fitted with safety cut off devices.

Laundry Services
All mattresses must be covered.
You can provide and launder your own bed linen offsite on condition that you also supply your own pillows.
If you want marae sheets/pillowcases to be provided during your stay, we will arrange for them to be laundered with the cost charged to you. $5 per sheet.
The washing machine in the kitchen area is for washing items from the kitchen only (tea towels and hand towels).
Local self-help laundries are in Shakespeare and Campbell Streets, Leamington.

Marae Check in
For overnight stays check in is from 12 noon with checkout by 12 noon on the day of departure. At times we have "back to back hires" where we ask that you vacate by 10am.
A marae committee member will :
give you the combination to the lock box by the back door which holds the keys to the marae.
Email you a copy of this information sheet
Email you the cleaning checklist(s).

Marae Property
The hirer is responsible for breakage/loss of equipment, damage to chattels, buildings. No equipment or furniture is to be removed from the marae
Make yourself aware of how to operate any equipment especially in the kitchen and report any damage(s) before your departure.
All buildings are to be locked when your group leaves the property during the booking and any loss of Marae keys is chargeable to the hirer.

Powhiri or Whakatau
The booking form includes the option of a powhiri or an explanation of the Marae History by the Hau Kainga or a Marae Committee member

Safety
It is the responsibility of your group to ensure the safety  and supervision of your tamariki while on the marae. No children are permitted in the Kitchen
If you identify something that may be a hazard please contact the Marae Chairwoman
A Basic First Aid Kit is available in the kitchen
Please make your group aware of the evacuation points and the location of the emergency contact phone number when you arrive.
Smoke, heat and security alarms are installed however you will need to evacuate the buildings and phone 1 1 1 yourself to alert the fire service in the event of a fire. (The brigade is not called by the alarm system) Ask the liaison person for the location of the key to the alarm box (required to turn off smoke alarm if activated)

Supplies
We supply initial stocks only of toilet paper, paper hand towels, dishwashing and cleaning liquids, pot mitts and brushes etc. You will need to provide your own supplies once those are exhausted. 

Waste Management
All rubbish and food scraps must be removed from the marae, before you check out.
